Service Dog Agency Training Standards

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Service Dog Agency Standards is to provide guidelines and requirements sufficient to ensure that accredited agencies are providing high-quality Service Dogs and associated services for American Veterans and First Responders with Post-traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma/Sexual Assault. Adherence to these Standards is governed by the companion Service Dog Agency Accreditation Procedures.

The Association of Service Dog Providers is a coalition of non-profit service dog providers for military Veterans and First Responders suffering from post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma and sexual assault working to prevent suicide and improve military Veterans and First Responders’ mental health.

Our goal is to ensure that best practices are utilized by qualified organizations to ensure that Veterans and First Responders are paired with the most beneficial service dogs; increase awareness and understanding of the medical evidence that supports the use of service dogs; and advocate for the expanded use of qualified service dogs.
